At Ezeiza airport, a group of Peruvian fans and several journalists were waiting for Guerrero. The fans, who received him with flags and Inca national team T-shirts, asked him for photos and gave him words of encouragement.. In front of the microphones the questions concerned his goals on his arrival at the Academy, if he was able to talk to Gago and how he is physically.

“The biggest goal is the Copa Libertadores”It was the stick that the former Bayern Munich player put up. Of course, if he passes the physical test, he will sign a one-year contract under a productivity regime and join a team that has just won the 2023 International Super Cup and the Champions Trophy at the end of 2022.

The last team he was in was Avai from Brazil where he really had very little activity. In total, he added 10 games in 2022 and could not score goals. That said, and wondering if he would be able to act quickly, he clarified what his situation is. “I have to prepare, do a pre-season like everyone else”he answered honestly.

Previously, he had objected 15 appearances for Inter Porto Alegre in 2020 Y 16 in 2021. This is in the last three seasons he has played only 41 games.

After the departure of Enzo Copetti at MLS Charlotte, the team’s top scorer last season with 25 goals, Racing went on the market to look for his replacement and Guerrero ended up being the name that ended up convincing the coaching staff and management. Between Maximilian Romero, Nicholas Reniero and the Peruvian will fight to see who gets the center of the attack.

When asked about the way the team led by Fernando Gago played, he had a quick answer: “Racing is a team that presses and plays, a very intense team”.

Its incorporation seems to have pros and cons. On one side, his category and his career are undeniable, but his age and the lack of continuity with which he arrives in Avellaneda are factors that cannot be ignored and must be taken into consideration. Logically, and as we have already clarified, having a good physical preparation will be of vital importance in order to seriously face this new challenge.

Paolo Guerrerro’s career

Guerrero’s career is synonymous with quality and goals. During his club career, the relentless goalscorer who has had spells for Bayern Munich, Hamburg, Corinthians, Flamengo and Internacional, managed to convert a total of 190 goals. Furthermore, he has always been a very representative player for his country.

In the Peruvian national team he played 107 matches in which he scored 39 goals. In addition to collaborating with many, the player was a point of reference in the team led by Ricardo Gareca during the last qualifying rounds, where he wore the captain’s belt for a long time.
