“Maradona or Messi?”, was the question that included January’s national survey #OpinaArgentinawhich was created to advise Governments, Parties, Companies and Institutional Subjects in strategic analysis.

As they contemplated, the response was “energetic,” because 60% of the 1,100 interviewed between 9 and 12 January in various parts of the country chose Messi, while 28% are in favor of Maradona. Only 12% chose the neutrality of the “I don’t know, don’t answer” option.

Analyzing more deeply the data of the interviewees, it was observed that Diego won among the popular sectors. Even if he did it by a narrow margin, given that in the lower socio-economic segment Maradona was perceived as the best player by 49%, against 45% who favored Leo.

Politics also entered the discussion: The poll found that Juntos supporters favored Messi by 76%, while those of Frente de Todos were split between the two world soccer champions with the national team (46% for each). Meanwhile, among the liberals, the difference went from 67% to 24% for the Argentine champion who lifted the Cup in 2022 over that of 1986.

On the other hand, although there are no gender differences in choosing Leo over Diego, women voted the Paris Saint Germain striker as the best in a higher percentage than men: 69% and 53%, respectively.

Curiously, the older segment interviewed -those over 50- did not choose Maradona Although they saw him in all his glory, he preferred Leo by 63% against just 23% for Diego. Something similar occurred in the 30-49 year old target group, where the difference was 55% to 28%, respectively.

They were the youngest18-29), then, those who attributed the highest percentage to those who died on November 25, 2020: 35%. However, it was there that Messi took 62% of votes
