The Argentina women’s national team This year will have the great challenge of participating in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The team that leads German Portanova and who achieved a historic ranking after finishing third in the Copa América which was played in Colombia last year, will complete Group G alongside Sweden, South Africa and Italy. But this Tuesday, after the presentation of the official ball that will be used in the tournament, a curious detail emerged: the biancoceleste shirt will not show the three stars on the shield.
The brand that sponsors the World Cup that FIFA will organize in Oceania from 20 July to 20 August has unveiled the Oceanuz, the ball that Adidas has designed with visual tones inspired by the organizing countries. And one of the players who posed with the ball was the Argentine striker Mariana Larroquette.
The forward of Club León de México and the national team smiles with the ball in his hands and the Argentina shirt that doesn’t show the three stars on the shield: what is this for?
It is that according to FIFA each modality has its own titles and they are not shared by the federation. In other words, the three world titles were won by the men’s team, so they will be able to bring the stars to the Scudetto. The same goes for the futsal team.: Men wear a star for the world title achieved in Colombia in 2016.
Like women, even beach soccer teams, which have not won world titles, will not be able to embroider stars on the championship. Whoever wins them takes them.
When does the Women’s World Cup take place?
