Just as happened on Saturday with Independiente fans who were able to go and watch their team at the Mario Alberto Kempes de Córdoba against Talleres de Córdoba, without hiding under the guise of neutrals, the same will happen on Saturday with River, who will play in that phase against Belgrano, for the second appointment of the Professional League. Obviously what changes is the price. And fans of “Millionaires”, which They flee the brawl, repudiate the prices and in protest call not to attend the game.
Belgrano has put up for sale ten thousand tickets for the Kempes’ Popular North stand (called Willington), intended for River fans. The price? 13,500 pesos! To this number must be added the Service Charge, a supplement that adds 10% to the ticket, with which the real value would reach almost 15 thousand pesos.
By this way, Belgrano to charge River fans more than double the price set by Talleres for Independient fanse, who paid 6,000 pesos for the ticket, and triple what the Central Córdoba of Santiago del Estero sold Saturday to the “neutral” fans of the River, who were able to access an audience of the Mother of the Cities in Santiago del Estero for a fee of 5,000 pesos. Therefore, the price set by Belgrano is abusive. Especially if we also take into account that the cost set by the AFA for a popular ticket is 2,300 pesos.
Faced with this situation, River fans erupted in anger on social networks. And those who usually travel with their own flags, known as “Los bandereros”, issued a statement demonstrating against the price set by Belgrano, which said:
“When we found out that in Córdoba there would be a visiting bias and not a neutral one, we were happy because traveling to support our team is something we always think about and enjoy. Because of the high prices of the “POPULAR” we protest against it: $13,500 plus tax makes a total of $15,000. Many buses in Buenos Aires have begun to unsubscribe so as not to be complicit in these plagues of football and we have asked the AFA for a regulation so that it really intervenes in this matter.
The same was done by the River Supporters Subcommittee, whose statement stated: “From our space we completely repudiate the prices that are far from being for a popular ticket, for the match that River will play with Belgrano at Mario Alberto Kempes in Córdoba. This abuse with the real fan must end and we support the initiative of the Subcommittee NOT TO WATCH THE MATCH, just as there will be no “signalers” and “historical microphones” from the stands. We understand the ambition of the fundraiser but ask for respect for the fans, not just of our beloved River Plate, but of football in general.”
In case this move is successful, it wouldn’t be the first time River fans have manifested themselves in this way. It had already happened at the end of 2019, in a match against Newell’s in Rosario. At that time, the management of the Rosario club put the popular ticket at 4,000 pesos when, according to AFA regulations, at that time a popular ticket had to be charged 500 pesos. Only 250 River fans bought tickets, when Newell’s management expected to sell 6,000 tickets and raise 24 million pesos. However, they only raised 1 million. In other words, the boycott worked.
Now, River fans indicate a similar situation is unfolding. Meanwhile, Belgrano has already put tickets on sale for 13,500 pesos this Monday through the autoentrada.com site and with a maximum limit of four tickets per person. Subsequently the tickets will be exchanged at the Independent Ticket Offices of the Dinosaurio Mall Complex, located in Calle Rodríguez del Busto 4086 and those who purchase them will be able to collect them (only the holders of the cards with which they made the purchase) from Thursday to Saturday, from 11:00 to 6pm
