More than a month to go Formula 1 it will still be played when the Bahrain Grand Prix is defined on March 5th. But the new season is already throbbing because Haas they became the first team to showcase its new car design.
Rather than a full-scale rollout, Haas has chosen to virtually showcase the car that Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg will be driving this year. Recently on 11 February he will physically show up for the first time in the tests at the English circuit of Silverstone.
With an energetic makeover, leaving behind any past ties to Russia, the VF-23 It was presented through some digital renders in which it can be seen that the blue of the old Uralkali sponsorship has been removed from the bodywork.
Now, black predominates on the sides and on the bonnet, while the white has been kept in front and there are flashes of red, reminiscent of the 2020 design.
The new colors have to do with the new main sponsor from the team of the American Gene Haas: the MoneyGram money transfer company, whose name appears on the bonnet of the car.
“We are heading towards a new season fueled by some solid performance of the team last year and a return to the final which is worth points. The goal for the 2023 season is naturally to do it more consistently,” Gene Haas said in an official statement.
He also referred to his new duo of drivers, given that Magnussen first replaced Nikita Mazepin -after the Russian invasion of Ukraine- and now Hülkenberg will occupy the place vacated by German Mick Schumacher. “I think we have a couple of experienced riders more than capable of delivering those points every Sunday.“, underlined the owner of the team.
The sports director Günther SteinerHe added: “Obviously I share the enthusiasm all around the livery unveiling, especially as it’s a checkpoint in the pre-season calendar, meaning we’re one step closer to doing what we really want to do, which is racing.”
“It’s an exciting time of year for Formula 1 and It’s great that we are the first to go out to show off our livery, but our focus is firmly on getting the VF-23 on track and preparing for the upcoming season. We really have something to build on after last year’s performance.”
On the new pairing of riders, Steiner commented: “Obviously in Kevin and Nico we have two proven points talents locked up behind the wheel.. I can not wait to start”.
Haas will enter the 2023 season looking to continue its recent upward trajectory, after finishing eighth in the Constructors’ Championship under new rules last year.
