The deal breaks the previous Premier League record, set by Manchester City when they signed Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for £100m (€113.6m, $123.2m) in August 2021.

The surprising detail was that the English club decided to put the link leading to the former River player’s networks at the top of their social network profile.

Before that detail, in the place assigned to the biography of the club there was the Argentine flag and a drinkin reference to obtaining the World Cup in Qatar.

Fernández, linked to the English club until June 2031, had once again lobbied for the transfer and was not called up for Tuesday’s match in which Benfica beat Arouca as visitors.

Nor had he trained alongside his teammates in Monday’s training session, in which he only made a few moves in the gym, and then chatted face to face with coach Roger Schmidt, to whom he communicated his willingness to be sold.

River round affairs

Núñez’s club will end up collecting, in total, more than 50 million euros for the central midfielder, transferred from Benfica of Portugal to Chelsea of England on the verge of the closure of the European market for a total of 121,000,000 euros.

to the river corresponds to 25% of the transfer since last July, when he gave up the young midfielder who has just turned 22, he maintained that passing percentage. Therefore, the amount that Núñez’s club will receive for the millionaire operation is 30 million euros, because the English club executes the release clause.

to that amount we have to add another 18 million euros: 10 come from the original sale to Benfica in August 2022 and another 8 correspond to bonuses depending on the number of matches played by Fernández. The Argentinian wore ‘Águilas’ shirt 29 times, hitting the first two passes of that goal (10, 25, 40 and 50 appearances), although the Portuguese club will pay for that deal in full, because it has been agreed in that way.

And you also need to do it add 3.5% of the solidarity mechanismequal to about 4 million euros, while the remaining 1.5% (about 2 million euros) belongs to Defense and Justice, which had him on loan for a year and a half.

Of the more than 50 million euros that River pockets for the total amount of the operation, Núñez’s treasury enters weighted at the official exchange rate (Today the price of the euro is exchanged at 203 pesos), which can vary depending on when you receive the odds.

This last part, the most cumbersome, will be received in three or four parts, according to what has been defined with Benfica in the next few hours. And from everything that enters, taxes of 25.7% must be deducted (15% to the footballer; 7% to the national state; 2% to the AFA; 1.2% in CABA stamps; 0.5% to the Argentine footballers Unionised).
