Gareth Bale He hasn’t had time to mourn his retirement as a professional footballer, that activity which has kept him competing at a high level for more than 15 years, and has already embarked on a new adventure in the world of sport: made his debut as a golfer on the PGA Tour.

With less than a month to hang up his boots, the former Real Madrid ex is competing in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a tournament featuring 156 amateur players paired with a professional. He is paired with the American Joseph Barmlett and already shows all his skill.

During this Thursday’s action in California, in which the Bale-Barmlett duo delivered a -7 card, the Welsh surprised with a blow from a paved path with which he managed to leave the ball a few centimeters from the hole. It was a great “approach” or approach shot, one of the hardest in that sport as it requires a good deal of focus and pulse.

The video quickly made the rounds on the networks and some were encouraged to joke about it: “Gareth Bale was wasting his talent as a footballer”, tweeted the @Football_Tweet account.

The World Cup of Qatar 2022 explained that playing: “I couldn’t play it properly because there was a string in front of me. During the practice strokes I hit the string, so now I had to gear up, grab her low and hit her on the bench,” detailed.

“I was lucky, but I got the shot I was thinking of and tried to take. Then I asked the cameraman if he had captured that moment,” he concluded with a laugh.
