The Premier League investigates City: why Julián Álvarez’s team could lose points like Juventus in Italy

As explained by the English League in a statement, City did not provide “truthful information” on several topics such as the salary of the coach for four years, the company’s revenue, including sponsorships; in addition to not having complied with the UEFA regulation in terms of financial ‘fair play’ and license, nor that of the Premier League in terms of profit and sustainability.

The Premier has also accused the English club – which has the Argentines Giuliano Alvarez AND Massimo Perrone on its campus – for failing to provide the “necessary information and documents” to cooperate with the investigation between 2018 and 2023.

The investigations into the events, which took place between 2009 and 2018, have been entrusted to an independent commission, which will be appointed on an unspecified or communicated date.

The Manchester club has already been investigated by UEFA and sanctioned for a period two years without being able to participate in European competitions in 2020 for breaking the rules of financial “fair play” between 2012 and 2016. However, this penalty was overturned by the European Court of Arbitration and never came into force.
