The case of Federico Gattoni, more than a novel, this summer has become a blockbuster series of the moment with several seasons. And the release of a tug of war that became spicy last week is in Spain, more precisely in Seville.

The 23-year-old defender will not sign a new link with San Lorenzo. But he won’t be removed from the pro squad either, as had been speculated. The fact is that the Andalusian club currently managed by Argentine Jorge Sampaoli has returned to office for him and has reached a verbal agreement to buy him from the Cyclone for 1.5 million dollars gross and only take him away in the middle of this year.

In this way the footballer will be able to make the leap he wanted in his career, the Barça institution will receive money in return and Ruben Darío Insua will be able to continue using it during this semester. All satisfied. Almost.

It is that although San Lorenzo thought of Gattoni as one of their youngsters to sell for a better figure in the future, the position of the defender who is captain in the Gallego cycle was putting the Boedo club on the ropes. The other way out would have meant hanging him and releasing him after June, when his contract expires.

This sale will pay $1.2 million in two installments (mid and late 2023). The lesser evil Gattoni, who will give up part of what is due to him for the transfer, wanted to emigrate yes or yes and for this reason he did not sign his new contract.

how he learned clarionAll that remains is to prepare the final document and sign it so that your transfer can be made official, which will only take effect in five months.

It remains to be seen whether Insua will already be considered for Saturday when he receives Godoy Cruz at the Nuevo Gasómetro. This Monday Gattoni trained regularly with his teammates. Of course, with this new offer from Sevilla, the ultimatum given to him last Thursday by Matías Caruzzo (coordinator of professional football) has come to naught.

“If you don’t sign you won’t be taken into consideration”, the defender had heard. The weekend passed, he was not called up before Lanús and he never signed. It was expected that this Monday he would be separated from his teammates, but the reappearance of the Spanish entity changed everything and started to untie a difficult knot.

That yes, if for some reason the operation should fall in the next few hours, Gattoni knows that he will automatically have to train against the professional staff.

Negotiations for its renewal began in May last year. Everything was pulled due to differences with his representative, Marcelo Lombilla, who asked for a low exit clause (1.5 million dollars), which in the last part of the negotiation had been accepted by San Lorenzo.

Meanwhile, Gattoni traveled to Italy a couple of times to process his EU passport. The second time without management authorization, after the debut in the local tournament.

Even so, Sevilla were unable to sign him for this transfer market as they lacked a quota. But he closed an agreement first with the footballer and now with the Cyclone, who at least won’t be left empty-handed.
