The ‘new’ Monumental: a tour of the largest stadium in South America that promises to continue to grow

River will live a special Sunday. Beyond the tribute to the world champions and Martín Demichelis’ first match in Núñez as coach, the Monumental will have a renewed look. After eleven months of uninterrupted work, the first part of the work has been completed and the first will be in the match against Argentinos Juniors in which there will be 83,196 peoplea digit that will already place the stage as the largest in South Americawhich does not interrupt its march since by mid-2024, when the remodeling is finished, it will reach 84,567 spectators.

On Friday afternoon, the club publicly presented the “new” Monumental, which included a tour in which clarion– for completed works. In addition to the lower lower stands that have been built in the Sívori, San Martín and Centenario sectors to bring people closer to the field, there will be 17,157 new jobs retractable according to FIFA standards, 30 new boxes in the Centenary, a single tunnel for the start of both teams, a new Paddock room that will have a direct view of that tunnel, new replacement benches integrated into the new lower lower stalls of San Martín, new garages, new circulations, new expanded changing room , new audio system, expansion of the food stand, new medical department and new press stations in the Belgrano media grandstand (247 stalls).

One of the biggest changes concerns the Centenario and Sívori stands. Is that the bottom and bottom are now headers and will be there 25 thousand popular (free given that subscriptions are not paid in those sectors) therefore the old workstations that were installed there have been removed. In addition, “CARP” is painted on the Centenary and “1901” on the Sívori, respectively initials and year of foundation of the club. Another novelty in this sector are the metal fences, very similar to those used in Germany and they do not interfere with the view of the playing field. Furthermore, avalanche barriers are already to be found in both popular areas.

Another novelty is in the boxes: they have been largely renovated and 30 have been added in the middle of the Centenario, in the sector near where the restaurant is being set up, with a view of the playing field and the river Barrio. Furthermore, in both popular ones, accesses have been doubled and universal bathrooms have been added, suitable for fathers or mothers with newborns.

In the lower, lower and middle San Martín, there are already all gray folding seats and the legend “RIVER PLATE” made up of white seats. In addition to the red and white stalls, which form the club flag. The same will be done with the Belgrano grandstand, which is the most delayed due to the Institute’s move but in the middle of the year – or perhaps earlier – it will be ready. What yes, in the middle and lower part of this area there are already all gray seats too. And another advance from Belgrano is in the central part. The press desks were renovated there, as well as new ones installed. In total, 247 positions will be available.

One of the great novelties of the new Monumental is the unique tunnel, which will also be released this Sunday and will allow River, Argentinos and referees to leave the playing field at the same time. Furthermore, the floor is made of synthetic grass and has led screens installed on the walls.

As for the reserve benches, these will be integrated into the lower part of the San Martín, so fans will be able to see Demichelis’ indications up close. And each of them has 23 seats-seats, which are attached to the new lower stalls of the San Martín.
