ATP Córdoba Open: Fede Coria and Sebastián Báez entered the final and there will be an Argentine champion

The Argentines Frederick Coria (67) e Sebastian Baez (47) will define the title of the Cordoba openafter beating the Spaniard Albert Ramos (54) and the Bolivian Hugo Dellién (138) in their respective semifinals on Saturday.

On the first lap of hot saturday dayon the central clay court of the Polo Deportivo Mario Alberto Kempes de Córdoba, the venue Frederick CoriaSeeded sixth, he prevailed over Spaniard Albert Ramos (54) by 6-4 and 7-6 (2) in two hours and 26 minutes of play.

“Today I allowed myself to play a bit with people because I really needed it to gain strength and take advantage of the location. It gives you a different energy and luckily I was able to win and get a ticket for the final”, underlined Federico Coria after the victory in the press conference.

Coria on the way to the final beat the Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (78) 6-7, 6-1 and 6-2, the Italian Marco Cecchinato (93) 6-3, 3-1 and retirement, and in the quarterfinals Francisco Cerúndolo ( 31) 6-3, 3-0 and retirement.

In the second round, also local Sebastian Baez (47), seeded fourth, defeated Bolivian Hugo Dellién (138) in a South American duel with a double 6-4 in just an hour and 31 minutes of activity.

“It’s a joy to be able to reach the final in this tournament and be able to define the title against another Argentinian like Fede (Coria). It makes me very happy to be able to recover my best level and I hope I can crown it with the title”, said Báez after beating Dellién.

En route to the final, Báez debuted with a second-round victory over Italy’s Luciano Darderi (140) 6-3, 6-4, and in the quarterfinals, he beat Chilean Tomás Barrios Vera (212) 6-1, 3 -6 and 6-1.

The doubles tournament will also be defined this Sunday in the preview of the Argentine singles crossing, and the local duo made up of Máximo González-Andrés Molteni will face the French Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul.

After the Córdoba Open, the South American tour will continue to Buenos Aires, then travel to Rio de Janeiro and conclude in Santiago de Chile.

The race that takes place at the Polo Deportivo Mario Alberto Kempes has had two local champions: Juan Ignacio Lóndero (2019) and Juan Manuel Cerúndolo (2021). In the remaining editions there was a foreign champion: the Chilean Christian Garín (2020) and the Spanish Ramos (2022).
