Sergio Ramos has announced that he will no longer play for the Spanish national team, where he was world champion in South Africa 2010. The Paris Saint-Germain player said that Luis Enrique’s replacement at La Roja, Luis de la Fuente, announced it to him personally: “Today I got the call from the current manager, who doesn’t and won’t count on me“.

After not being considered for Qatar due to physical issues which kept him off the pitch for much of 2022, plus Luis Enrique’s decision to travel with a team dominated by the new generation of Spanish footballers, the former captain of the selected renewed hope to be considered again. However, this afternoon he told his social networks that he will no longer wear the shirt of his country.

Ramos said that in the call received from Luis de la Fuente, the DT was clear and said that he will not call him “regardless of the level he can show or how my sports career continues”.
