The mystery is over. Just over two months after being the driver of the team that won the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Lionel Scaloni was confirmed this Monday by the AFA as coach of the Argentina national team football until the 2026 World Cup which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
This was made official by the Argentine Football Federation through a publication on the Twitter account of the Argentine national team a few hours after the start of the FIFA The Best awards ceremony in Paris, France, where Lionel Messi, Emiliano Dibu Martínez and Scaloni himself participate in the shortlists for the statuettes for the best of the season.
The official status was ratified by Claudio Chiqui Tapia, president of AFA, who a few minutes later published a post on Twitter where he showed the private meeting he had with Scaloni in the French capital to close the deal.
“When trust is high, communication is simple and effective. We continue to strengthen the national team project, together with Lionel Scaloni, the world champion coach,” wrote Tapia on his personal account.
