“Leo, you are the heart of a country that loves you. Newell’s is with you”, reads the message written on a flag that the fans hung in the popular north of the Marcelo Bielsa stadium and spread on social networks. It was hung to be shown in the match of the Rosario team against Barracas Central.
Rosario has been the center of attention since Thursday, after the attack suffered by the supermarket of Antonela Roccuzzo’s family, completed by the autographed message addressed to Lionel Messi. “Messi, we are waiting for you. Javkin is a drug trafficker, he won’t take care of you”, the letter said.
After the threats, several players and Newell’s manager Gabriel Heinze came out to bench the Argentine team captain. And now, Leprosy fans joined in, hanging up a flag in support of Rosario.
The attack took place on Thursday morning. Two men on motorcycles stopped in front of the shop in Lavalle at 2500 and fired 14 shots. First they left a well-written note that mentions the star of the Argentine team: “Messi we are waiting for you. Javkin is a drug trafficker, he will not take care of you ”.
The prosecutor investigating the incident, Federico Rébola, has requested an expert opinion on the message and is studying the images of at least four security cameras to verify the mechanisms and try to find the perpetrators of the accident. No arrests at the moment.
Rébola believed that the perpetrators of the attack “were looking for a public impact” and that “there is nothing to indicate that they intended to intimidate (Messi)”.
