The current edition of the Argentine Cup has already delivered several chapters of those results that are usually classified as “surprises”. This Wednesday, in Sante Fe, more precisely at the stadium of Brigadier Estanislao López, Chaco forever tied 0-0 with Sarmiento de Juninbut they prevailed 6-5 on penalties and advanced to the 16th round of the supplementary competition.

israel damonte decided to give minutes to some players who don’t usually start in the Buenos Aires team. Although there were some known surnames such as: José Devecchi, Luciano Gondo OR Javier Toledo.

The intention of Chaco For Ever was not to speculate, but rather to play evenly. A lot of fighting, little precision and few scoring chances. Indeed, there was a clear possibility for both sides. Franco Quinteros took a great shot from outside the area and Luciano Silva sent for a corner. On the other side Emiliano Bogado, one of the most active players on the first hole, dives into the void, defines, but finds Devecchi’s feet.

The category difference was not noted. At the end of the first stage, there was no clear ruler. After the break, Damonte moved to the bench: Fernando Martínez and Sergio Quiroga came on for Manuel García and Manuel Mónaco.

The changes have taken effect. With a greater offensive presence, more generation of play and the infamous wear of the opponent, those of Junín gave the Chaco team the lead, but, despite generating chances, they did not have the necessary effectiveness to move up the table.

Nobody managed to tip the balance and the match went to penalties. Yes, once again, a Copa Argentina match had a definition from the 12 steps.

Both in Sarmiento and in Chaco For Ever, the first five penalties were taken with great solvency. Lisandro López, Alejandro Donatti, Javier Toledo, Sergio Quiroga, Franco Quinteros headed the Greens. For their part, Cristian Ibarra, Matías Romero, Federico Boasso, Ricardo Garay, Leandro Allende have taken responsibility for the albinegro.

When the time came for Luke Melano, a former player of Belgrano and Lanús among others, resumed his run and waited for the referee’s whistle. His shot is crossed, at medium height and without much power. All this allowed Silva I stretched and left his team one step away from qualifying.

Mateo Maccari, who came on as a substitute bench, had his ticket to the next stage on his feet. And it didn’t fail. He opened his foot, the ball hit the crossbar twice and ended up going inside. Suspense, but those led by Pablo Martel managed to continue the race.
