Here is what the association wrote about Carey Price:

On July 23, 2021, the Canadian announced that Carey Price had undergone knee surgery and would have 10 to 12 weeks of rehabilitation. On September 23, Canadian coach Dominique Ducharme announced that Price should be ready for the first game of the season. Except that the rehabilitation took longer than expected.

At the age of 34, with a heavy medical history, playing in a knee-hard position, Price has undergone numerous setbacks, to the point where he himself has admitted that there is a possibility that his career will be in danger.

Price also showed courage by enrolling in the NHL and NHLPA assistance program in October to combat the substance abuse problem. The move obviously forced him to take a break from his rehabilitation. It was finally on April 15 that Price played his first game of the season.

His fitness program was halted in early 2022 when the team was affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

On Jan. 31, Price said he hopes to play by the end of the season. He has lost all four games he has so far this season, posting a 4.04 GAA and .853 save percentage.

Interim head coach Martin St-Louis revealed before Sunday’s game that Price needed a bit of a break, but he was preparing in hopes of playing the final game of the season on Friday at the Bell Center against the Florida Panthers.
