A top-end car appeared abandoned and vandalised in Santa Fe and now the police are investigating whether it belongs to or was driven by the footballer Brian Fernándezrecently separated from the Colón campus.
It’s a gray BMW, which appeared in the Altos de Noguera neighborhood north of the city. The hypothesis that the athlete may have been involved in the accident arises from a series of testimonies who say they saw a young man with similar characteristics on the spot.
The vehicle was vandalized, with broken glass, a rear view mirror and a tire had been stolen.
As published by El Litoral, residents of the area ensure that the vehicle would belong to Fernández and sources close to the player have confirmed that it is his private vehicle, although it would not be in his name since he has not made the transfer.
The last conflict in Colón
Brian Fernández has tried, on several occasions, to leave his problematic use behind with the intention of starting over. Thus it was that, at the age of 28, he had a new opportunity in Colón. An opportunity that ran out last week. Is that Néstor Gorosito, coach of the Santa Fe club, has decided to separate him from the professional squad after two consecutive absences from training.
“Brian Fernández missed two training sessions. He didn’t have permission. I told him I was giving him a chance and I gave him two… that’s all. He has to talk to people at the club to see how he’s doing. I’m not a psychologist I have to give him priority in the group,” Gorosito forcefully quoted on the eve of this Saturday’s match against Independiente, in which Sabalero drew 2-2.
Gorosito, who came to replace Uruguayan Marcelo Saralegui, knew he could count on the presence of a high-quality player like Fernández, who returned with the idea of ”turning the tables” after a phase that didn’t even have a starting point in San Luis de Quillota of Chile.
Pipo Gorosito quickly lost his temper and confirmed that the footballer will no longer train with the professional squad. “It happened to him many times. I spoke to him as a father, as a kid from the neighborhood who he is. It’s a matter that he has to resolve. I can’t say something I’m not qualified to.”
Fernández, professional footballer like his brothers Leandro (Universidad de Chile) and Nicolás (Defense and Justice), returned to Colón -where he had been between 2019 and 2022- earlier this year after several frustrated chapters in clubs of the First National during the last part of his career.
After his first exit from Sabalero, the footballer emigrated to Ferro Carril Oeste, where he made a great performance by scoring 14 goals in 23 games in 2021. In those days in Caballito he seemed to find a good way to overcome the addictions that weren’t there more a secret to rumors in 2015, while playing for Racing and tested positive for cocaine in a doping control which led to a two-year fine by Conmebol.
After his spell at Ferro, the striker left for Patagonia to defend the Deportivo Madryn shirt. There he suffered another relapse, which motivated the club to terminate his contract after playing just six games with only one goal converted.
It was then that he returned to Ferro. But there, still with his back problems, his contract was canceled after seven games in which he could only be on the field in 208 minutes out of a possible 630.
Last October, Fernández was arrested in Santa Fe after he attacked a bus with stones. After the event, local police arrested him and he was subsequently hospitalized for a month with a psychiatric outbreak. This year, after his frustrated spell in San Luis, he signed a six-month contract with Colón
