The pilot lewis hamilton commented on the conviction of the former pilot Nelson Piquet for racism and homophobia. The sentence came out last week and he must pay R$ 5 million as compensation. This value will be used to fight the two causes.
Not really wanting to talk about the case, the pilot was brief. “I think I commented on the case when it happened. I think and still believe that we should not give a stage to people who are full of hate”, told “Sky Sport”.
“I would like to thank the Brazilian government. I think it’s amazing what they did by holding someone accountable, showing people that this (prejudice) is not tolerable”, commented.
“Racism and homophobia are not acceptable. And there is no room for that in our society. So I love that they’re showing that they’re defending a position. And I still believe that, in general, we should not give a platform to people who are full of hate”, opined the Formula 1 champion.
