The duel between América and León, on the 13th of the Mexican championship, had an Argentinian tinge. But nothing suggested that it would end in a scandal with the protagonist of the Albiceleste: the footballer Luke Romero received a knee to the genitals of the international referee Fernando Hernández and the two coaches -Fernando ‘Tano’ Ortíz and Nicolás Larcamón- invited each other to quarrel and met in the dressing room waiting room of the Azteca stadium, during the 2-2 draw.
Around the 64th minute, judge Hernández booked the Colombian Steven Barreiro, defender of León, but as he showed the card to the defender, his teammates approached to claim him. At that moment he bent his left knee towards ‘Perro’ Romero and fell backwards to the ground.
“These are things that remain on the pitch… I don’t think it was done with bad intentions”Romero said at the end of the match for Mexican television. “I don’t ask for anything, just that they (the referees) respect us as we respect them on the pitch because they are the authority”complete.
A few minutes after the match, the Referee Commission of the Mexican Football Federation informed on their social networks that it will open “an investigative process on the events that occurred with the referee Fernando Hernández in the match between America and León”.
In 2017, this referee Fernando Hernández had an encounter with the Paraguayan footballer Pablo Aguilar, in a Cup match between Tijuana and América.
Insult, expulsion and escape
The other situation was also violent. The coaches Fernando “Tano” Ortíz from América and Nicolás Larcamón from León, had a heated argument which led to their expulsion from the field of play.
The heated exchange took place on the side of the pitch at the Azteca stadium, with insults and a few slaps, which resulted in Larcamón’s black shirt breaking.
Ortiz was the first to go to the locker room area and, from behind, Larcamón ran over him, while the two made the typical gesture of inviting each other to fight.
In the tunnel it was not possible to appreciate what happened, while Ortíz had taken off the black jacket that covered his white shirt.
After the match, Ortiz da Córdoba didn’t want to elaborate on the fact but revealed the reason that provoked his anger. “I’m going to say one thing, I’m of the opinion that what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. But when my mum is insulted, no”expressed, through tears, the former defender of Boca and Racing, among other teams, who suffered the loss of his mother a year ago.
In another game played late on Saturday, Monterrey beat Xolos 4-0 with a brace from the Argentine forward German Berterame.
The former San Lorenzo was a starter together Stephen Andrada AND Maximilian Half and on the other hand they played Lysander Lopez, Luke Rodriguez, Fernando Valenciala, Alessandro Martinez AND Alessio Canelo.
Monterrey is the tournament leader with 34 points in 13 dates and took 9 leads over León, Larcamón’s team, and 8 over América de Ortíz.
