Mirko Saric shocked the football world 23 years ago with a decision that surprised everyone. On April 4, 2000, his mother Ivana found him hanged in his room. The footballer who made his short career in San Lorenzo, has come to be wanted by Real Madrid which has offered 10 million dollars for the steering wheel. He had all the conditions to go very far, but there was something that worried him.

Post by Mirko’s brother

“I close my eyes… the day is coming that I wish didn’t exist… thousands of memories start to fall automatically… lived moments that were lived intensely until Mirko was almost 22 years old… So many anecdotes that today they remain only in the memory of all those we have been able to share with Mirko… the Great Tini.

I chose this photo because it was on the sidewalk where we grew up and spent thousands of hours playing archery… playing tricks like the neighborhood kids… I’m very happy to remember every moment… every experience that we’ve had going forward, for better or for worse… your big concern has always been not understanding that bad people exist…

I am grateful to have shared 20 years by your side. I thank my FAMILY and my FRIENDS who, since April 4, 2000, have always stood still.

I also thank the thousands of messages that come to me from people I don’t know and who give me good energy to keep going.

I always miss you brother

I love you

Mirko’s mother recounted the situation that affected him so much

In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, Ivana Saric revealed a hitherto unknown situation experienced within her family: “20 years have passed and I will tell you something I have never said. Mirko was happy because he had been a father. She was a girl from the neighborhood and we knew how she acted when he was focused… They hooked her up with a lot of guys. We asked her to do a DNA test, because I wanted to know if she was really a grandmother. We never pressured him because even if her child wasn’t his, she could still accept it.”

“He paid a fortune for DNA for him, the mother and the child. But I’m convinced he did it more to cover for me than anything else. Mirko was sure this boy belonged to him, he told me it was crooked like him. She was by her mother’s side throughout her pregnancy and when she was born she changed her diapers, she bought everything for her,” Ivana said.

At the time, Ivana recounted her pain at being right in what she thought about the situation: “It was negative. One day she calls me with a voice from beyond the grave and she says to me: ‘Mom, she is coming home urgently’ ‘. When I get there, she shows me the results and says, ‘You were right, Mom!’. I was crying uncontrollably. I swear in my life I wanted to be right. I wish it had been hers because if that child had been hers he wouldn’t have killed himself.”
