The team led by Catalan Pep Guardiola need to win to steal points from leaders, Arsenal, who have an 8-unit lead at the top and visit Liverpool this Sunday.

The one who will start is Carlos Alcaraz. The ex Racing will be at home from the start in his first season in England. The Argentinian scored twice in the Premier League: the first in a 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton on the 23rd and the second in a 1-0 draw against Leicester on the 26th.

Guardiola confirmed Haaland will be part of the squad for the league duel before visiting Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday. “He has been training in the last two days, very well. He will be ready,” Guardiola said at the press conference.

The Spanish coach said the Champions League duel had no bearing on the number of minutes Haaland could play against Southampton. “The last thing on our minds is Bayern Munich. It’s Southampton. The Premier League is every day, every week,” he stressed.

Haaland, who has scored 42 goals in all competitions this term, had to miss Norway’s European qualifiers against Spain and Georgia two weeks ago due to injury.

Haaland leads the Premier League’s scoring charts with 28 goals and has amassed nine in his last three games in all competitions.
