Racing manager Fernando Gago has chosen to rotate some players after the first round of the Copa Libertadores. With Cardona and Hauche starting, among others, those of Avellaneda have tried to take control of the progress of the game, albeit without the precision and intensity to which they are accustomed.

After 8 minutes, in one of the first dangerous plays of the game, Cristian Tarragona waved on the edge of the area and shot with precision near Gabriel Arias’ left post to seal the 1-0.

Gimnasia justified the victory in the minutes after the 1-0 and could have increased the score. About half an hour into the match, a kick by Edwin Cardona to young Bautista Barros Schelotto earned the Colombian a yellow card, who was injured and must be replaced. In his place came Paraguayan Matías Rojas, who is doing great after his great goal from behind the midfield with the Libertadores.

Within a couple of minutes, Rojas changed the face of Racing but another Rojas, Gabriel, was sent off after seeing his second yellow card. So went the first half, with complex prospects for Gago.

El Lobo struck again first in the plug and extinguished every reaction from the Academy with the result of 2-0, the result of a set piece game: Leonardo Morales jumped the most in the Racing area and hit a header unassailable for Arias.

With more men up front, Racing got into the game quickly, in the 22nd minute, and reached a 2-1 lead after a good combination of touches and a definition from Jonathan Gómez.

At minute 42 comes the controversy of the evening. Lamolina charged Racing with a penalty for an alleged catch (he did not appear) but the VAR called him to review the play. In the end, the referee decided to go back on his decision.

At the end of the game Colazo saves the 2-2 on the line and from the one played comes the counterattack by Lobo, which Soldano defines by slipping in the definitive 3-1 for the locals.
