The Argentine Under 17 took advantage of a weak reaction from the Paraguayan goalkeeper and thanks to the 1-1 draw he was able to save in Guayaquil not only kept his undefeated in the South American category which takes place in Ecuador but, in addition, was able to finish the initial stage as Group B leader.

Diego Placente’s team had obtained the pass for the final Hexagon of the tournament in advance, just like their rival tonight at the George Capwell stadium, so only the first in the group was up for grabs.

In that context, it hit Paraguay first and he did it also thanks to a mistake by the rival goalkeeper. In this case, it was Héctor Maza who failed when he tried to come out and cut a cross from the left, in the 33rd minute of the first half. The Argentine goalkeeper’s miscalculation allowed Axel Balbuena to head into goal unchallenged.

Argentina, with a line-up made up of some players who came on the tournament bench for early qualifying, showed improvement in the second half of the match and it reached equality at four minutes the regulation time has elapsed.

It was at that moment that Kevin Gutiérrez received meters from the penalty area, outlined for the right leg and shot a low shot, but not so powerful and even aimed at the center of the goal. But Jesús Peralta’s response, fortunately for the Albiceleste team, was not the best: The ball slipped under his arms and prevented his team from taking first place in the group.

Thus, Argentina claimed first place in Group B by adding 10 points, above Paraguay’s 8.

Peru completed a South American to oblivion

Peru greeted the South American Under-17 team this Saturday with a dismal goalless draw against Venezuela, in group B of the tournament. The Inca team had arrived as guests of the next World Cup of the category, but FIFA has decided to withdraw the organization and, therefore, will not participate in the competition, which does not yet have a designated venue.

The Peruvian team greeted the tournament with a draw and three defeats, with only one goal scored, the one scored by Bassco Soyer in the 2-1 defeat against Bolivia in the first round, and 9 conceded.

For its part, Venezuela has given the opportunity to a group of players considered as substitutes, since they had qualified early for the decisive instance.

The first date of the Hexagonal
