In the opening minutes of the game, Almirón had his first upset as he came to La Boca. Is that, in just two minutes, Wanchope Ábila scored the 1-0 of the visit.

Eleven days after Hugo Ibarra’s departure, Boca finally found a replacement. At first the bet had been for Gerardo Martino, for Tata, after analyzing the offer, he refused it. Along the way, the names of Diego Martínez, current coach of Tigre, and Luis Zubeldía, José Pekerman and Diego Alonso, among others, appeared.

Should the arrival take place in the early hours of Monday, Almirón could make his debut next Wednesday, against San Lorenzo at the Nuevo Gasómetro, for the eleventh round of the league.

It is not the first time that Almirón has appeared at the Bombonera, although this time only as a spectator before taking on the role of coach. He did it with other teams four times but never won: one draw and three defeats. The first time was as Godoy Cruz’s coach, in the 2014 final, a match he won 3-0. At the next tournament, the Torneo 2014, he arrived as a driver for Independiente and lost 3-1

He also lost 3-0 on 9 March 2019, as coach of San Lorenzo. And the only point he got in his last visit from the Lanús bench: 1-1 on 17 April 2022.
