Christopher Galtier, current manager of Paris Saint Germain and Lionel Messi, has been accused of racist remarks made during his time as manager of Nice. According to information, the facts would have happened in August 2021, when the coaching cycle at the club had just begun.

According to the reporter Romain Molina and ‘After-Foot’, by RMC Sport, Julien Fournierwho he knew was the sporting director of Nice while Galtier was in his position, was the one who initiated the accusation of racist phrases and attitudes by the current coach of the Parisian team.

In the face of this complaint, Fournier would have sent an email to the club’s managers in which he recounts the situation that he himself accuses: “Christophe Galtier then walked into my office and greeted his son, who said ‘you can check with my father what I told you’ (Galtier’s son is a player agent and had also spoken to Fournier to comment the words of the technician): Once his agent/son left, I told Galtier about the conversation I had just had and asked him if it was true, he replied yes and that he had to take into account the reality of the city, and that indeed we couldn’t have so many blacks and muslims in the team

Also, that doesn’t appear to have been the only situation, but Fournier also added, “He went to a restaurant (Galtier) and everyone jumped on him, ensuring the team was full of blacks.” Furthermore, Galtier reportedly commented that “he had to realize that the team didn’t match the city or what people were asking for“.

However, this was not the only accusation that Fournier made against the DT who leads Kylian Mbappé, but at the end of last year he also pointed against Galtier when speaking of the reasons why the coach ended up leaving Nice: “If I explain the real reasons why we fought, because that’s really the word, Christophe Galtier will never enter a dressing room again, either in France or in Europe. (…) It was indirectly connected to football. Those are things that touch me deeply.”

Galtier, currently 56, has joined PSG to replace Mauricio Pochettino for this season after having just moved to Nice, where he spent just one season (2021-2022). Before that, he managed to become Ligue One champion with Lille, a club he led for four years.

As for the moment he is going through in his current team, the fans point him mainly as responsible for the failure to achieve some objectives, such as the early elimination from the Champions League. His future in Paris next season is unknown.
