“Brian is with his family today, where he feels comfortable. We are waiting for him to accept treatment. This is at will. I have not found enough support and today I am looking for more support so that everyone around them is informed about the disease and what is experienced on a day-to-day basis. It’s very difficult,” the pair of the “sabalero” footballer complained.

The striker also played for Racing Club, Sarmiento de Junín, Defensa y Justicia, Deportivo Madryn (First National); Union La Calera (Chile); Necaxa (Mexico); Portland Timbers (United States), although in some of those teams he has played very few games.

However, the addiction problem has always recurred and been a stumbling block in his career and personal life.

“Nobody wants this for Brian, it’s a very difficult subject and some have more tools and more desire than others. We cried together with his mother. The family does what it can,” Fessia said.

“I’ve been with him for eight years and have been battling this issue for three. I don’t agree with this and I don’t like it. I have seen the Brian that can and today I see his deterioration. It’s a constant struggle,” he said.

Brian Fernández, 28, returned to Colón de Santa Fe (a club of which he is a self-confessed fan) this year to train initially with the Reserve Division, but faced with various absences from training, the management dismissed him and he was released from action.
