The political life and technical management of the first team dominate Boca’s agenda head-to-head. After Almirón’s debut defeat as DT, attention has returned to the race to lead the club after the next election. Shortly after Vice President Juan Román Riquelme spoke in an interview on the club’s official channel and released a message to the fans, Mario Pergolini took the glove in hand and responded in his own way.
Riquelme leads his own space and could launch his candidacy for president in the next election, but although he hasn’t proclaimed himself as such, he asked the fan. Strictly speaking, the message is addressed to members authorized to vote. “You don’t have to let yourself go crazy, things are going very well,” said the leader. A few minutes later, Mario Pergolini, one of his main detractors -and ex-companion in space who brought Jorge Ameal to the presidency-, answered him on his social networks
“A CD that has been released twelve times in four years. 50 percent (are) obedient and the other 50 are afraid of who knows what”he challenged in a story, pointing to the entire executive leadership.
“They approved a new grouping after almost 20 years for someone who is currently an executive. Other than directive“, he pointed out without naming Riquelme, but alluding to him omnisciently. Pergolini’s reference is to the formalization of Riquelme’s own political space, the Group I’m Bosterothe number 16 of the club and the electoral platform of the deputy, who was present at the board of directors which approved it this Thursday.
For now, Román has not yet defined what role he will play in the year-end elections. And perhaps, already with his official space, he will begin to define what the formula will be like. What he did clarifies his impression of him, whatever role he fills: “I win the election 95 to 5,” he said in February this year.
“It’s time to start talking NOW about what we really want for the future. It’s not opposition because yes, it is by logic. Let’s wake up before they put us back to bed” concluded Pergolini.
Riquelme, in the political ring with Macri
A few days ago, Mauricio Macri confirmed that he will participate in the year-end elections. Thus, the former president of the club and Riquelme will be the visible faces of the electoral competition and promise a great battle in the background. As of now, neither has defined where from, whether as part of the formula or just as members of their respective lists. But without a doubt, beyond the fact that Macri has already nominated Andrés Ibarra as president, it will be a dispute between two heavyweights.
