The robbery took place last Friday around 21:30, when the two motorbikes boarded the car in which the victim was travelling. The thieves closed the rear-view mirror of the car to force the athlete to put his hand out the window of the vehicle to straighten it, a moment they took the opportunity to snatch his wristwatch.

Dimitrov was returning from training and filed a complaint with Mossos d’Esquadra in which he claimed that the stolen watch was worth around €70,000. Now, the Catalan police have opened an investigation into a crime of robbery with violence to arrest the perpetrators of the robbery.

Dimitrov has been a pro since 2008 and has official earnings of $21,108,793. In 2017 he won the Cincinnati Masters 1000.
