The Sub 20 World Cup will be played in Argentina: what does the decree published in the Official Gazette authorizing the application say?

The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massaand the president of the AFA, Claudio Chiqui Tapiawill announce this Monday at noon that Argentina will host the next U-20 World Championship, which will take place from May 20 to June 11.

According to sources from the Palacio de Hacienda, Massa and Tapia will host the event from 12 at the Ministry of Economy in the company of the board of directors of the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) and the Minister of Sports and Tourism, Matias Lammens.

The head of the economic portfolio will demonstrate that Argentina has the necessary funding to be able to hold the ecumenical tournament, after the International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA) withdrew Indonesia’s candidacy, because that country does not recognize Israel as a sovereign state and objected to that nation’s participation in the contest.

In this way, the economic authorities will highlight that Argentina will be able to hold the championship, for which FIFA will allow the participation of the AFA Under-20 team, as the organizing country, despite not having classified.

Tapia will be accompanied by the leaders of the AFA, Rodolfo D’Onofrio (River Plate), david boy (Hurricane), Marcellus Achilles (Defenders of Belgrano), William Raed (Mitre de Santiago del Estero) and the Secretary General, Victor White Rodriguez (Racing Club), among others.

The decree

Meanwhile, before the announcement this midday, the Government today published a decree authorizing the tools for postulation.

“Given the importance of the imminent event, it is deemed appropriate to authorize the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Tourism and Sport to sign the deeds which constitute the necessary government guarantees in the context of the application for the celebration of the event called ‘Copa FIFA Under 20 Men’s World Cup 2023”, reads the introduction to decree 201/2003, published in the Official Gazette.

The regulations bear the signatures of President Alberto Fernández, of the Chief of Staff, Agustín Rossi; and the ministers Matías Lammens (Tourism and Sport) and Diego Giuliano (Transport).
