Mike Smith stopped 33 shots for the ninth straight win.
The Penguins ’response came from Jeff Carter (19th), in the 2nd period.
Casey DeSmith made 37 saves for the Penguins, who still had to manage without the services of goaltender Tristan Jarry for the fifth straight game.
Pittsburgh suffered its 25th loss of the season, its first at home against the Edmonton Oilers since 2006.
