The new appeal was filed two days after Alves gave a new statement to the judge responsible for the case on her own. In the session, he admitted, for the first time, that there was penetration, unlike what he had said before, but said that what he called the “relationship” with the woman who accuses him of rape was consensual.

In the deposition, Alves argued that he lied in court because he wanted to hide his infidelity from his then wife, the Spanish model Joana Sanzwho filed for divorce after the player’s arrest.

According to the Catalan newspaper “El Periódico”, Daniel Alves’ defense also presented two more new arguments. One of them points out that most of the player’s companies in Brazil do not depend on him to function, since one of the arguments used for the player’s preventive detention was that business activities in Brazilian territory increase the risk of fleeing Spain.

Another argument points out that the athlete’s financial resources are in progressive decline due to breach of contracts since he was arrested. Also according to the publication of “As”, the defense of the Brazilian will argue that the “roots of alves” will be in Spain, since the first wife and two children, who “are moving from Brazil to Barcelona”.
