The team led by Diego Placente concluded its participation in the hexagon with 7 points and qualified for the U17 World Cup together with Brazil, Ecuador and Venezuela.

Diego Placente’s team struggled to get into the game, but once inside they managed to equalize two goals down with goals from Juan Giménez and Claudio ‘Diablito’ Echeverri, and when Brazil got back in front, they tried to until the Draw concluded again, encouraged by the Ecuadorian public gathered at the Atahualpa stadium, attentive to their team’s interests.

At 11 minutes, Riquelme entered the Argentine kitchen and had to shoot twice to get past goalkeeper Florian Díaz, and half an hour into the match, a combination between Luiz Gustavo and Dudu left the Brazilian number 10 alone against the goalkeeper de Unión, who he beat with a delicate low and cross shot to score Canarinha’s second goal.

The Brazilians were expecting a comfortable match, but Argentina soon closed the gap when centre-back Juan Giménez got a dead ball into the box from six meters after a corner kick, in the 33rd minute.

The game turns into a two-way match in the second half and the opportunities begin to follow one another on both sides and with them also the goals.

‘Diablito’ Echeverri made it 2-2 after 55 minutes after a rebound from the Brazilian goalkeeper inside the box, but just five minutes later Brazil scored their third goal with Da Mata’s header from a free-kick.

The Argentine team turned to the attack in the last stretch of the match to rebalance the accounts, and this meant that Brazil too had very clear opportunities to widen the gap on the counterattack.

However, there were no more goals, the three whores fell to Canarinha’s side and Argentina finished with ten due to defender Juan Manuel Villalba being sent off for direct red

For its part, Paraguay, penultimate with four points, beat Chile, bottom without a unit in their five games, 1-0 with a goal from César Miño.

Brazil and Argentina had already qualified for the World Cup and the others who reached the two remaining places, Venezuela and local Ecuador, faced each other at the last minute, with the possibility for the latter to be champion of this South American event if won.
