Gabriel DeckArgentine forward of real Madridwill not play again this season due to the injury, “internal collateral ligament injury of the left knee”, which occurred in the last minutes of the fourth game of the Euroleague playoffs against partisanin Belgrade last Thursday.
“After the tests carried out today on our player Gabriel Deck by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he was diagnosed with a rupture of the internal collateral ligament in his left knee. Evolution awaits,” reads the medical report released by the club.
Apart from the scare, according to specialist journalist Alejandro Pérez, Tortu’s injury isn’t that serious. “More news is coming from Gabriel Deck and this is quite good: the medial ligament injury has compromised neither the meniscus nor the cruciate ligament, which prevents surgery,” Pérez said. Recovery would require about three weeks of immobilization of that area of the leg and a lot of kinesiology work.
Thus, Deck will miss the rest of the season and will have to watch Real Madrid’s decisive match against Partizan from a penalty area, to find out who advances to the next stage of the Euroleague.
Real Madrid tied the series
Real Madrid completed their feat by also winning the second match of the Euroleague quarterfinals against Partizan (78-85) this Thursday in Belgrade, thus recovering the home court factor and the pass for the Final Four in front of their fans next Wednesday.
In the previous moments, all the sporting tension generated in the three matches of the series to date remained in the background, overshadowed by the mourning and the tributes of the stands and the teams to the victims of the shooting in a Belgrade school that shocked Serbia.
In this way the tie will live one last episode in Madrid. Partizán will go there with the idea of repeating the victories that brought them up 2-0. And he will do so with Kevin Punter, his great champion, available after serving a penalty for the incidents in the second match. I faced Real Madrid full of confidence after rising heroically in Belgrade and with the fans on their side. It smells like an epic battle.
