Federico Redondo, the heir

Federico Redondoson of the historic former national team player Fernando and one of the figures of the Argentine Under-20 led by Javier Mascherano, expressed his joy for the World Cup and believed that playing at home “is the best thing that can happen.”

“Playing a World Cup is a great joy, and moreover doing it in your country is the best thing that can happen to you,” said Redondo in dialogue with the press after the second training session at the Lionel Messi stadium. , in Ezeiza.

Top-tier Argentinos Juniors Redondo has joined Mascherano’s squad after being omitted from the tournament list South American which was played in Colombia earlier this year.

“I am very happy to be here. I was there when the trial began but then I stayed out of the South American. I learned of the call for the publication of the list, but I have not yet spoken personally with Mascherano,” said Fernando’s son , former figure of Real Madrid and the national team.

After being eliminated in the South American qualifiers, the “albiceleste” won the chance to play in the World Cup given the loss of Indonesia as the venue for the tournament which will start on May 20th.

“We don’t take the local team as pressure, because I think it will be a boost and help us,” said the central midfielder of the “bug”, who will have “nice” competition in the position with Manchester City’s Massimo Perrone; Mateo Tanlongo, of Sporting de Portugal, and Ignacio Miramón, of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.

“We have a large squad and many hierarchical players with good support, especially in midfield. I’m sure whoever has to play will do it in the best possible way”, he remarked.

Of the 21-man squad, Redondo is one of the most popular in the first division and this year he added experience from the Copa Libertadores.

“I feel good and very confident,” said the 20-year-old, who was born in Madrid during his father’s time with “merengue”.

Regarding the absence of other footballers who stand out in Europe such as Alejandro Garnacho or Facundo Buonanotte in Manchester United and Brighton and Hove respectively in England, Redondo assured that they will certainly have “revenge” for the “quality” they have.
