The definition in Germany of one of the semifinals of the Europa League sees Bayer Leverkusen dominating the match, without however being able to break the parity that Roma defends without interruption. A 1-0 win in the first leg for José Mourinho’s side sees his side as finalists in the competition, even with the last 45 minutes left.

The summary of the first part had no variations: the local forwards, completely planted in attack and Roma confined to their own field, with the aim of cutting out any proposal from those led by Xavi Alonso.

Little by little, Roma had some situations that didn’t bother Bayer. Despite commanding the game and Rui Patrício’s proximity to goal, the home side missed a clear opportunity after Frenchman Moussa Diaby’s shot crashed off the crossbar.

The second part began under a smokescreen. The fans lit the flares, the referee stopped the game and for a few minutes the BayArena reduced the visibility, but it didn’t prevent the restart of the game.
