Ramón Díaz’s son Emiliano left today the technical direction of Saudi Al Hilal, a post he held in the last five rounds of the local league in which they ended up as escorts for Al Ittihad replacing his father, who returned to Argentina to accompany his family after the tragic accident suffered by his other son, Michael, in which his daughter-in-law, Bárbara Olivier, lost her life.

“The day has come that I never wanted to arrive, but football and life have stages, and today is the time to look for new challenges. I am leaving with the peace of mind to leave my life for this club. I want to thank everyone Al- Hilal for giving me the chance to return to the club where I’ve been happiest in my life, to a group of incredible players who are already part of my life and I love them like my own children.”

On 14 May, Ramón Díaz had surprised by announcing his departure from the Arab club with which he played a great role in the last Club World Cup. The man from La Rioja made such a decision to accompany his son Michael that on March 14 he was involved in an accident in which his wife, Bárbara Oliver (daughter-in-law of Ramón) and the driver of the vehicle he collided with, Aldo Flaque, dead.

Díaz, who had just won the 16th title of his coaching career and equaled Helenio Herrera’s record by consecrating himself in the Copa del Rey de Campeones with the Arab club, apologized to the fans in a heartfelt recorded message which he broadcast on their social networks and those of Al-Hilal.

“First of all I want to thank the fans, the administration, the players, for everything they have given me, the opportunity to be in a great club. I’m going through a difficult, complicated moment, which is why I have to go back to Argentina to accompany my family again. Thank you everyone in Saudi Arabia for how you treated me. I apologize again, I love you so much and you will definitely continue to win,” Pelado explained.

Now, who followed in his footsteps was Emiliano, who decided to follow in his footsteps “Five years ago I promised I would come back and this time it will be the same, I will come back, but now as main coach”, closed the text.
