Walewska: family makes decision about wake after tragic death

The family of the former volleyball player Walewska Oliveira made the decision about where the wake for her body will take place. According to the Globo Esporte website, the athlete’s body will be laid to rest and buried in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The place is her hometown, where her family lives and where she began her career in her early teens.

For now, the family has not released any further details about the farewell ceremony. Her body should be released from the IML on Friday night, the 22nd.

Former volleyball player and Olympic champion Walewska passed away at the age of 43 on Thursday night, the 21st. She fell from the 17th floor of the building where she lived in São Paulo and her body was found on the first floor of the place. Athlete Walewska Oliveira was Olympic champion in Beijing in 2008 and was a bronze medalist in Sydney in 2000. She said goodbye to the courts in 2022, when she played for the Praia Clube team.
