Qatar registered 23.5 million ticket requests in the second round of ticket sales for the 2022 World Cup (from November 21 to December 18), FIFA announced on Friday.
The eight most demanding countries are England, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Brazil, United States, France, Mexico and Qatarsaid the international federation in a press release.
This sale round, which closed on Thursday, launched on April 5. A draw will decide the allocation of tickets.
Argentina fans seem to be among the most interested: Albiceleste’s three group games are among the four most demanded fixtures.
Ticket applicants will be notified by email of the result of their order beginning May 31said FIFA.
In the first phase of the sale organized between January 19 and February 8, 804,186 tickets have already been allocated, while 17 million have been requested.
There are over 3 million available to all (2 million sold and 1 million reserved for FIFA and its partners). Between 1.2 and 1.4 million people are expected in the emirate during the event.
A final stage of the sale of the last minute, dates unknown, are planned. The principle of first come, first served will apply, and no more draw.
For spectators from abroad, the prices of individual tickets for the first round are between 250 and 800 Qatari riyals (between 87 and 281 Canadian dollars) for a match. For the final, it is necessary to count between 2200 and 5850 riyals (769 and 2044 Canadian dollars).
On average, they are 30% more expensive than the previous World Cup in Russia in 2018.
