Tonight’s duel for the final of the Champions Trophy against Rosario Central in Santiago del Estero will not be just another match River. At stake is not only the possibility that Núñez’s club wins a new title, but it could also mark the farewell of several players, including three historic players such as Enzo Perez, Nicola De La Cruz AND Matías Suarezwho was able to wear the red sash for the last time in the Mother of Cities.

The fact is that, for different reasons, each of them would not be part of the squad in 2024. They will therefore try to win the Champions Trophy to close their chapter with a smile.

Enzo Pérez stopped renewing his contract mid-year which expires on the 31st of this month and since then he has not given an answer as to what he will do with his future. It will only be known after the final whistle of the match against Central, even if it emerged in the preview what his fate will be in 2024: InterMiami by Lionel Messi.

The captain always stated that he would not give a definitive answer until the end of the match, beyond some indications he left along the way to suggest that he could have closed his cycle at River.

One of these, for example, was when he brought his family onto the field in the last match at Monumental, against Hurricane, November 3rd. He took photos with his children, he received an ovation from all the fans as happened in every Núñez game and after the defeat against Globo, some of those teammates, including Pity Martínez, dedicated a post to him that it sounded like goodbye.

For his part, Nicolas De la Cruz Yes, he has already confirmed that he will play his last match at River: Flamengo will pay 16 million dollars, a figure established in the signed transfer contract, and will take him to Rio de Janeiro on a five-year contract.

After a meeting in Punta del Este between Paco Pascal, its representative, and Marcos Braz, vice president of the Fla, the details of the pass were defined.

In this way, the 26-year-old midfielder will leave the club after six years, leaving 8 million dollars to Millionaire and the same to Liverpool in Uruguay, where he trained.

For his part, Matías SuarezLike Enzo Pérez, whose contract expires at the end of the month, he has recently suffered a lot from complications in his right knee, with synovitis affecting him from time to time.

In any case, with great commitment, the Cordovan fought and every time he recovered he had minutes on the pitch. But in recent times he has played little. Since 2021, the year in which he underwent a new surgery in his career, his presence on the pitch has been decreasing.

The striker, who arrived at River at the beginning of 2019, played 133 games with the red armband, scored 40 goals, showed great quality on the pitch and won 6 titles.

The situation is different Solomon Rondonthe Venezuelan that Demichelis chose this year and who only managed to establish himself in charge of River in the second half of the year, just when the team’s performance decreased.

The goalscorer’s decision, however, is not based on football: he has had personal problems and has communicated to the coach that he wishes to be sold or terminate his contract, when he still has two years left on his contract.

Rondón, 34 years old, has offers from Emelec in Ecuador and Pachuca in Mexico, although those around him report a possible departure for Spain due to family acclimatization problems, something that Demichelis himself had made public a few months ago.

In total, the Venezuelan has 35 games with the red armband, with 1,548 minutes on the pitch, 10 goals (4 in the Professional League and 6 in the League Cup), one of them against Boca in the 2-0 Superclásico at La Bombonera, he won a title (the Professional League) and tonight he is aiming for another.

Another name that will also greet tonight in Santiago del Estero is Jonathan Maidanathat like Enzo his contract expires on December 31st and he has not yet defined whether he will continue to play or retire from football at 38 years old.

The one who emerged at Boca had two spells at River. From 2010 to 2018 and from 2021 to today. And he lived them all. From hell to heaven. From relegation to Nacional, to returning to the Primera, to becoming champion and achieving eternal glory with the two Libertadores won, first in 2015 and then in 2018, in the final against Boca in Madrid.

Maidana has become an important reference in the River team despite his limited participation on the pitch in recent times. He has 317 games with 8 goals for the club. Jony preaches more by example than words. Demichelis highlights his positivism and his character. And Marcelo Gallardo once called him a “faithful warrior.”

Emanuele Mammana AND Franco Zuculini Furthermore, their contract expires on December 31st and they have not renewed it. Racing was one of the teams that stepped up to secure the services of both players, although Vélez also asked for the defender.

To all these losses for the next River we must add a second platoon of “transferable” players, with three names whose departures would serve to shorten a squad that is “too long” according to the Millonario leaders.

I am Andrés Herrera, David Martinez AND Agostino Palavecinofor which offers are expected to arrive.
