The day a young Lionel Scaloni declared his love to a journalist with the complicity of Pablito Aimar

Lionel Scaloni is preparing to welcome a 2024 that will see him very busy in the role of technical director of the Argentine national team, at least for the first half of the year, where he will have to defend the Copa América title that will be played for him in the United States.

But, in the last few hours, the man from Santa Fe has caused a stir on social media for an issue that has nothing to do with the world of football. A video dating back to the 1990s has gone viral, in which Scaloni confesses to journalist Greta Rodríguez that he is in love with her in complicity with his friend and current assistant in the field, Pablo Aimar.

The images come from TyC Sports and are from 1997, when both were part of the team that was the Under 20 world champion in Malaysia under José Néstor Pékerman.

The recording shows Scaloni shouting “I’m in love” into the air. Given this statement, the interviewer (Hugo De Cucco) proposed that Greta Rodríguez go and greet the man from Santa Fe, who insisted again: “Lionel is in love!”

Then the journalist warned him: “now that she arrives, don’t get angry, ask her out.” There Aimar takes advantage of the opportunity to put his friend in difficulty: “why don’t you dare tell him ‘I’m in love with you’, here, in front of everyone?” Scaloni immediately looked Pablo in the eyes, took his hand and said: “I’ll play you whatever you want.”

But it didn’t end here. Because De Cucco and Aimar suggest that Scaloni goes further: «The boy not only has to tell her that he is in love with her, but he has to ask her out». There the pujato clarified that “this week is impossible, tomorrow we have to train”. That’s when Pablo approached him with “when you say you were with Greta, you know what? “Don’t train.”

Later Greta Rodríguez herself appeared, who in the early years was part of the sports signal. In her presence Lionel stopped, went to greet her and again shouted “I fell in love with Greta”. Immediately afterwards he ignored him and went to greet Aimar. “They cut your face off,” they told Scaloni, who is now happily married to Elisa Montero, mother of his two sons, Ian and Noah.
