It is the second time that a Brazilian goalkeeper has won first place in this ranking: the first was Alisson Becker, of English Liverpool, in 2019.

Since he arrived at Manchester City in 2017, Ederson has always been ranked among the top 10 in the world, but only in 2023 was he rewarded for his great work at Manchester City, the club with which he won all national and international trophies with which he played.

The IFFHS, based in the Swiss city of Lausanne, is a body recognized by FIFA because the institution receives logistical support from the world’s top football body, and its accredited members have exclusive access to the FIDOM-FIFA archives.

On the other hand, FIFA has repeatedly underlined that the classification of football clubs and the recognitions granted by the IFFHS are independent of them.
