The Venezuelan Ismael Barroso won the provisional super lightweight title World Boxing Association (AMB) after defeating the Englishman Ohara Davies with an impressive quick first-round knockout in the main semi-distance bout of an evening that took place at Hotel Verginiin Las Vegas, Nevada.
After a devastating left blow, the Tiger Barroso brought out all his experience and skill, knowing that Davies was still “watching the birds” and unleashed a tsunami of punches to knock him out again.
The Englishman tried to regain the handstand and succeeded, but he was completely dazed. Davis’ lost look forced the referee Celestino Ruiz to stop the action when there were 1m53 left in the opening round.

With this surprising result, the 40-year-old Venezuelan veteran improved his record to 25-4-2, with 23 knockouts, while Davies dropped to 25-3, with 18 knockouts. Barroso, with that brutal barrage of blows, ruins his rival’s debut with Golden Boy Promotions.
Along the way, Barroso added beans to get a rematch with Rolly Romero, who last year defeated him by ninth-round TKO in a controversial fight May 13 at The Cosmopolitan, also in Las Vegas.
