American Erriyon Knighton became the fourth fastest man in 200m history on Saturday at LSU’s invitational meet.
The 18-year-old recorded 19.49/100 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which improved his own record in the under-20 category (19.84s).
Knighton made a name for himself in Tokyo last summer by breaking the 200m under-18 record previously held by Usain Bolt.
Thanks to his time set on Saturday, Knighton is now in 4th place as the fastest runner of all time. In front of him, we saw the sequence of Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Michael Johnson.
At the Tokyo Olympics, the young sprinter was ranked 4th in the 200m.
Sprinting legend Usain Bolt dropped 19.5 seconds just four times. He did this at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, 2012 in London and at the finals of the World Championships in 2009 and 2011.
He still holds the world record for distance, i.e. 19.19 s (time established in 2009 in Berlin).
