Caselli defended his management at the helm of Burgos: “We left a surplus of 10 million euros”

On Sunday, the Argentine Antonio Caselli found himself at the center of a controversy after the protest by the fans of Burgos, the club he will coach until 2021.

It all started when fans of the Spanish promotion club demonstrated in the middle of a Copa del Rey match against Mallorca, throwing a shower of fake banknotes and Argentine pesos. Why did they do it? In protest against the recent sale of the club to another Argentine entrepreneur: Marcelo Fígoli, historic owner of the Fenix ​​Entertainment Group.

Burgos fans, bought by Marcelo Fígoli, threw banknotes with the face of the new owner onto the pitch and forced the match against Mallorca to be temporarily suspended.

According to some Spanish newspapers, including Diario de Burgos, in mid-2021 the River fan entrepreneur would have left the club with a huge debt of around six million euros.

However, Caselli’s version is different: “When I bought Burgos it was worth zero. When I left, promoted, 71% of the club was worth 17.7 million euros.”

“I had a good relationship with the media in Burgos, I got along badly with those who stopped having privileges when I arrived,” he says.

According to Caselli, of the almost six million mentioned there were two million and one hundred thousand euros which corresponded to the prize of the players who had obtained promotion.

Moreover, to compensate for the six million debt attributed to himson of the former Argentine ambassador to the Vatican during Menemismo, assures that he left credits and that the account is positive: “When I left I left fifteen million seven hundred thousand euros on credit and debts of 5.6 million euros. The difference gave a surplus of over 10 million.”
