Bianca Andreescu knocked down Danielle Collins in Madrid

Bianca Andreescu advanced to the third round of the Madrid tournament with a win over American Danielle Collins on Sunday.

The Ontarian, who is participating in the second tournament after several months of absence, fell to sixth seed in two sets of 6-1 and 6-1.

Andreescu just needed 69 minutes to reach the round of 16, where he will face Jessica Pegula, also from the United States. Pegula, who ranks 14th in the world, defeated Kaia Kanepi 6-3, 6-3 on Sunday.

Since accepting the second set with American Alison Riske in the first round, Andreescu, 111th in the world, has won 18 of the next 20 games.

In addition, Quebecer Leylah Annie Fernandez, 20th racket in the world, is currently competing against Jil Teichmann of Switzerland.

Fernandez won his first game in Madrid against Andrea Petkovic of Germany.
