Damián Emiliano Dibu Martínez is largely responsible for Aston Villa’s present, fighting for the title against the “giants” of the Premier League. This Sunday, the world champion goalkeeper made another save to remember, with a double intervention and in Qatar 2022 mode, to save his team from falling against Everton, as guests.

After VAR disallowed a goal from Unai Emery’s team – there was an advanced position before Álex Moreno’s shot -, Dibu Martínez appeared at the end of an uncomfortable first half for the visitors.

In the 44th minute, a quick counterattack allowed Everton to move from one box to the other in three touches, leaving England striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin to run alone face-to-face with the Argentine goalkeeper. The man from Mar del Plata took a few steps back and, as he has already explained several times, at the last moment he ‘attacked’ his rival to close the shooting angle as much as possible.

His open right leg, unlike Kolo Muani in the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, was the one that stopped the shot of the Everton player, who remained lying with his head tight.
