He as Roma he announced it on Tuesday Jose Mourinho leaves the club “with immediate effect”, two days after the 3-1 away defeat against Milan left the Giallorossi in ninth place in the Italian Serie A, and in danger of losing the Champions League for the sixth consecutive season.
After the last contact with his former team, the Portuguese coach left the training facilities receiving the support of the fans, who thanked him for the time spent with the club, in which they obtained the Conference League 2021/2022 and they reached the final of Europa League 2022/2023.
However, the current situation of the team is worrying, excluded from the Italian Cup after losing the Capital derby against Lazio, a situation which sees the Roma players in the sights of the fans.
That feeling was also expressed this Tuesday when they were approached after practice. Leandro Paredes AND Paolo Dybalawho left in a car driven by the player who left Boca.
“Mourinho is no longer an excuse,” one of the fans asks Paredes, who responds a little nervously: “We know.”

Daniele De Rossi, historic Roma captain, has been called to replace Mourinho after a job that will last until the end of the season and will try to change Roma’s situation.
Mourinho’s departure from Roma is controversial
This was Mourinho’s third season at Roma, where he had a contract until June. In his first year he led them to win the UEFA Conference League and last year they played in the Europa League final.
But Mourinho also received several sanctions for his protests and criticism of the referees, which did not please the American owners of the club at all.
UEFA sanctioned the Portuguese coach four-game suspension in European competitions for insulting the referee of the Europa League final in the stadium garage after his team’s defeat against Sevilla. The protests also led to his disqualification for last Sunday’s match against Milan.
“AS Roma can confirm that José Mourinho and his technical staff will leave the Club with immediate effect,” read a statement from the club.
“We would like to thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his passion and commitment since his arrival at the club,” said Dan and Ryan Friedkin. “We will always have wonderful memories of his time at Roma, but we believe that an immediate change is the best thing for the club.”
Mourinho, 60, last month said he wanted to extend his contract with Roma. Now he could coach a Saudi Arabian club or a national team.
Consecration in the Conference League gave Roma their first European trophy in more than sixty years. It was also Mourinho’s fifth European title.
Mourinho also won the UEFA Cup in 2003 and the Champions League in 2004 with Porto; the 2010 Champions League with Inter; and the 2017 Europa League with Manchester United, becoming the first manager to lead four different clubs crowned in Europe. He also led Chelsea and Real Madrid to win numerous national titles.
But they didn’t like Mourinho’s defensive scheme and his expensive contract weighed on Roma’s finances. But the Portuguese was instrumental in attracting the likes of Argentine Paulo Dybala and Belgian Romelu Lukaku to play for the club – and the sell-out Stadio Olimpico was put down to his charisma.
De Rossi’s interim appointment will not quell speculation that the club will look to hire Antonio Conte as permanent manager for next season.
