“They’re one step above”, was heard in the pits of Concordia. Everyone agrees that the reference group TC2000 is the Chevrolet, which came from achieving “1-2” at the hands of Agustín Canapino and Bernard Keyring in Bahia Blanca. And that’s just the way it is. Almost like a carbon copy of the competition south of Buenos Aires, this time the same dominance was given to the excursion made by the category to the autodrome of the city of Entre Ríos.

No opponent, Canapino win to the end on the track not visited by the category in 17 years, when now ex-pilot Guillermo Ortelli won a Peugeot 307. And here too Canapino was accompanied by his side Llaver.

It is not uncommon, except for the TC2000, that “1-2” is repeated. And this time it happened, with almost no threat to break this extraordinary dominance. Just after they left, the two of them arrived. The current champion and his squire.

Of course this is not the most attractive for the category. Probably the most boring race of the year. Without emotions, without threats of reaching key areas, with a drop in expectations due to Chevrolets ’superiority.

Even the ballast system, questioned by the protagonists (the toughest was Canapino himself) prevented them from escaping ahead.

“The 40 kilos were noticed. berni it comes faster in some sections, like Milla. But this is the ballast system. For the next date we are heavier ”, commented the winner, who added:“ Congratulations to the team. We work hard for it. We weren’t the first in the championship, but it was a great gift. It is not easy to achieve this type of results.”.

True, although it is the start of the season, Canapino, despite two consecutive wins, is not ahead of the competition. This is because it did not achieve equal performance, because the inauguration date was delayed until farewell, in Rosario.

The most equal is Julian Santerowinner of Sprint on Saturday with the Toyota Gazoo Racing Corolla, which despite 60 kilos of ballast adds up and continues to move forward, more than fourth place captured in the Concordia final.

With no acts of displeasure, Llaver celebrated second place. Here he is second in the standings: how he started and how he came. “The podiums are always beautiful. He has a muscle car. To such an extent we are careful not to hit the pianos. The kilos always hurt, but it adds up and is strong. It was an excellent weekend”, highlighted the man from Mendoza.

Also coming to his finish was Matías Milla, who remained in third place and dominated within his structure (the former Renault team) to take the high podium.

“I am very happy for this third place. We were far away, but we turned around this weekend. Chevrolets are kilograms and far. I rescued the car one last time to give him a little speed. And since I had Santero behind, I handled that difference ”, Milla explained.

The fifth place is for always yielding Frank Vivianwho manages to drive a car from a moderate team, giving his talent and skill to accumulate good points.

One candidate left is the youth George Neighborhood, who left with his Toyota Corolla, while the only moment of definite expectation was the (very late) departure of the safety car due to a mistake by Barrios Bustos. An alternative to highly linear competition.

Even that scenario did not include changes in forward positions. In the peloton in the back there are some controversial incidents. Leonel Pernía, one of the great protagonists of the TC2000 with his Renault, first made a mistake due to a collision with Fabian Yannantuoni (Sling). And in the end he had a fight with his teammate Ignacio Montenegro, who ended up clueless in the final lap.

The TC2000 will continue its national course in the province of Neuquén, at the Centenario racetrack. Chevrolet, which aims to remain benchmark in the category. Your rivals, looking for solutions to match your potential.

Ayrton Senna, in the memory of all

On the 28th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s death, TC2000 drivers remembered the great idol of Formula 1.

“No doubt, This is the highest reference most pilots haveespecially in my time. I didn’t see him run, because I was four years old when he died, but obviously I watched all the videos, I read books about him. He is a great example in every sense, another one and a legend ”, commented champion Agustín Canapino.

And I added: “He remains in everyone’s memory for what he did, what he was. Because of his sports career, because of his personality. He is the great star of Formula 1 and more than that he killed himself to win: it also gives him another plus ”.

The leader of the competition, Julián Santero, said: “I did not see him run. Everything I know and have seen is from videos, careers, documentaries, movies. He was a standout in his time, an advance in his way of training, in his way of thinking, of the dedication he put into motorsport. That is the lesson he left and the love that the people of the world have. It marked before and after in F1”.

And Matías Milla said: “I was quite young and I watched races at home. I remember seeing my parents crying because of a fatal accident. It was something I will never forget. I remember we turned on the TV to watch F1 and see that phenomenon. We all want to keep watching him run to see how far he has come ”.
