Bo Bichette’s two-run homer was the first hit of the game for the Blue Jays (15-8).

Espinal and Bichette’s inspired attacking performance was made possible by Kevin Gausman’s (2-1) great start to the mound.

He struck out 10 batters and allowed two runs in seven innings of work before giving way to Tim Mayza.

Jordan Romano pitched in the ninth inning for his major league-high 11th save of the season.

For the Astros, Framber Valdez (1-2) only allowed three runs, two hits and two walks to opposing batters in the sixth and third innings.

Phil Maton and Héctor Neris are perfect in relief.

Niko Goodrum and Aledmys Diaz drove for the Astros (11-11) with doubles and singles, respectively.

Tied 2-2 at the top of the seventh inning, Espinal battled runners at first and second base.

Espinal hit his single away from left field, allowing Matt Chapman to spin around third base before going home.

31,802 were already screaming when Romano hit Goodrum to end the game.

Ross Stripling (0-0) will start for the Blue Jays on Monday when they face the New York Yankees. Jordan Montgomery (0-1) is on the mound for the Yankees, who are on the edge of the Blue Jays over the AL East Division.
