World Cup 2026: FIFA announced that the opening match will be against Mexico at the Azteca stadium and the final in New Jersey

Just over two years to go, but the historical picture that outlines it World Cup 2026 for being the first with three organizing countries AND 48 participants, began this Sunday to reveal some certainties. The calendar released by the FIFA president, Gianni Infantinodistributed on 104 games, which represent a record for this competition that paralyzes the world every four years. He Aztec Stadium of the Federal District will receive the inaugural meeting with the Mexican national team starring on June 11th, while the final will be in New Jerseywhich hosts the spectacular Met Life Stadium with a capacity of 82,500 spectators.

The legendary Mexican stadium is the first stadium in history to host three different World Cups, after those in 1970 and 1986, and will therefore host the inaugural match for the third time. El Tri will play that duel, play the second match of the group stage in Guadalajara on June 18 and return to the country’s capital to face the third match on June 24.
